Undercurrent (2025)
Materials & Techniques: Hard Maple, Peruvian Walnut, Baltic Birch Plywood, Metallic Paint, Glass.
Undercurrent was an idea that occurred to me while building my table titled Icosidodecahedron in 2023. Undercurrent takes the same geometric form as Icosidodecahedron, but pairs it with an organic structure. The result is a coffee table featuring two contrasting sculptural forms that are intertwined and forever linked. The organic sculpture was created with Baltic birch plywood that was stack laminated and power-carved. The piece was included in The State of Craft 2025 Show at 108 Contemporary Gallery in Tulsa, OK, by Juror Pauline Verbeek where it received the “Craftsmanship Award” on 12/4/25.
The Undercurrent coffee table represents the finest craftsmanship, heirloom quality, and forward thinking design of custom tables made in Oklahoma City. No paint, stain, or dye was used in the creation of this piece. A clear coat finish was applied to preserve the natural wood tones and textures.
