Triptych Hall Tables (2016)
Materials & Techniques: Macassar Ebony Veneer, Curly Ash Veneer, Figured Makore Veneer, Solid Walnut, Solid Ash, Solid Peruvian Walnut, Solid Sapele, Black Iron.
The Triptych Hall Tables are an exploration of the concept of a wood top that is divided into 3 sections by metal legs. I made 5 tables total; a pair of them with Macassar Ebony veneer and solid walnut, a Curly Ash veneered top, a Figured Makore veneer top with Sapele, and a reclaimed version. The veneered versions feature a veneer applied over a sturdy substrate of Baltic Birch plywood. The figured and curly grain patterns appear 3-dimensional as one walks around the table, allowing the light to hit the surface from various angles.
The Triptych Hall Tables represent the finest craftsmanship, heirloom quality, and forward thinking design of custom tables made in Oklahoma City. No paint, stain, or dye was used in the creation of this piece. A clear coat finish was applied to preserve the natural wood tones and textures.
