North Edmond Vanity (2011)
Materials & Techniques: Sapele, Walnut, Cherry, American Made Maple Veneer Core Plywood.
The North Edmond Vanity project was the first piece I made that was more in a furniture context rather than basic cabinets. This client took a risk in trusting me to execute something far nicer and more complex than I had ever designed or built up to that point in time. I am forever grateful and this piece, more than any other, began my furniture making journey.
I used custom veneering techniques, steam bent wood, and bowed fronts for the cabinet faces in front of the sinks. The vanity features a his and hers sink with different countertop heights and a center linen cabinet with open faces on the radiused corners. The vanity was clear coated to preserve the natural wood tones. No stain or dye was added.
(Due to the limited space in the bathroom, the panoramic photo showing the full vanity had to be stitched together from different shots, which is why the floor and vanity appear slightly distorted).
This project represents a sample of the finest custom cabinets made in Oklahoma City.
