Materials & Techniques: Reclaimed Semi-Trailer Cargo Flooring, Black Iron.

The Industrial Infinity Tables were my first attempt at designing something using reclaimed wood.  The metal design makes use of a distorted infinity loop that is bridged by the reclaimed wood.  The wood was reclaimed from decommissioned semi-trailers and shows decades of wear and tear.  The screws holding the planks to the trailer bed are so rusted that they must be torched off, creating the black burn marks from the sparks.  No distressing was added but the wood did undergo many stages of sanding, cleaning, and brushing to remove loose dirt.  After this, each table top was encapsulated in epoxy to seal in the patina and then finished with a marine grade spar varnish, typically used on yachts.  These are designer caliber tables in a popular style that will last a lifetime and beyond.
