Materials & Techniques: Red Oak Solid Wood, Red Oak Plywood, Steel, Glass, LEDs, Automated Electronics. 

This bookcase was commissioned by a private client. The requirement was that everything be electronic and be perfectly hidden when closed. The drawing was created by another shop that was unable to complete the project due to the automation. I built the bookcase and then I designed and employed subcontractors to custom fabricate a steel structure pivot system to make the door function as intended. I was able to employee a friend who works in automation to make the unit function as intended.

This was one of the most fun projects I have ever had the opportunity to build!
