Burch Nightstands (2022)

Materials & Techniques: Rift Sawn White Oak (Solid & Plywood), Peruvian Walnut, Hard Maple. 

The Burch Nightstands were commissioned by a private client who wanted a midcentury modern inspired design with contemporary flair. The nightstands feature legs with a tapered miter wrap.  The drawer face is randomly cut and reconstituted rift sawn white oak plywood with Peruvian walnut strips. The drawer boxes are made of hard maple and feature half-blind dovetail joints.

The client had a requirement that the nightstands have a hidden feature to house a weapon that would be easily accessible in the event of an intruder. To accommodate this request, I created a lockable drop down tray that can hold a small fire arm. The tray can also double as an inconspicuous place to hide valuables.

The Burch Nightstand represents the finest craftsmanship, heirloom quality, and forward thinking design of custom furniture made in Oklahoma City. No paint, stain, or dye was used in the creation of this piece. A clear coat finish was applied to preserve the natural wood tones and textures.
