Aqua Undertone Lamps made with Peruvian Walnut and Maple

Materials & Techniques: Maple, Peruvian Walnut, Veneer, Acrylic, Chrome.

Aqua Undertone is a lamp design and study of right angles, (90 degree angles). The simplicity of the straight lines and right angles in the center column of the lamp are contrasted against the gentle beveled angles of the base and top cap. The lamps feature a light aqua colored acrylic that can be illuminated via an internal LED strip.  The strip and converter are replaceable should the need arise and the main light and LED night light feature can be operated together or independently of each other through the 2 circuit socket switch.

Six pairs were created with different woods in an exploration of how the personality and mood of a given design can be affected by the color and texture of various wood combinations.  The wood combinations are as follows:

   Maple with Peruvian walnut trim
   Sapele with Cherry trim
   Ash with Purple Heart trim
   Bubinga with Peruvian walnut trim
   Walnut with Bubinga trim
   Sapele with Purple Heart trim

The Aqua Undertone lamp represents the finest craftsmanship, heirloom quality, and forward thinking design of custom lamps made in Oklahoma City. No paint, stain, or dye was used in the creation of this piece. A clear coat finish was applied to preserve the natural wood tones and textures.
