Ambient Wave Bedroom Set (2015)

Materials & Techniques: Beech, Peruvian Walnut, Zebra Wood, Maple, Glass, Chrome. 

The Ambient Wave Bedroom Set was designed and created for a private client. The custom bed frame and nightstands feature solid zebra wood panels that have been heavily textured with a power carving tool and sanded to leave a smooth undulating surface that begs to be touched. The nightstand tops have the same textured surface under glass, which provides a beautiful depth with the benefit of protection from wear over time. I created a pair of complimentary custom lamps, a variation of my lamp called Rectangle, which utilizes negative space by placing the lamp switch in a suspended box at the center of the lamp body. The bed frame legs feature a design element that I think of as a “fin” reminiscent of 1950s automobile design. The nightstands have solid maple drawer boxes with half-blind dovetail joints.

The Ambient Wave Bedroom Set represents the finest craftsmanship, heirloom quality, and forward thinking design of custom furniture made in Oklahoma City. No paint, stain, or dye was used in the creation of this piece. A clear coat finish was applied to preserve the natural wood tones and textures.
