Alexander-Knight House (2022)
Materials: Sapele, Peruvian Walnut, Rift Sawn White Oak, American made Maple veneer core plywood.
This kitchen was built for clients who had experienced a fire in a historic home requiring a full interior rebuild. The original kitchen was very small and the home consisted of tiny rooms. The client removed the walls to create an open concept but ceiling beams had to be employed to support the second story. The result is a nice interplay between the ceiling and the open floor.
The idea behind the cabinet design was to create something fun and contemporary that still acknowledged the craftsmanship elements of the bygone era in which the home was originally built. The kitchen features all natural wood tones and does not use any stain or dyes. My favorite element of the design is the way the display cabinet on the side of the pull-out pantry transitions one from the adjacent living room into the kitchen space.
